Sunny gained his medical degree at The University of Melbourne prior to surgical training through The Austin Hospital. Following admission to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Sunny completed fellowship years in advanced General Surgery at Dandenong Hospital and Breast and Oncological Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital. He accepted Breast and General Surgery Consultant posts at both Royal Perth and Fremantle Hospitals prior to returning to Melbourne with his young family to set up definitive public and private practices.

He is a regular attendee and has presented at national and international surgical and oncological conferences. Sunny is also co-author of the highly commended “Breast Cancer.
