This Friday 22 July, 11am-12.30pm, Breast Cancer Network Australia / CanTeen are hosting a Webinar: Support for Young People when a Parent has Cancer. Canteen provides support for young people (aged 12-24) living with cancer in the family. In this session for parents who have cancer, Christina Strouzas will talk about supporting young people, talking to them about cancer, and about the range of programs and resources CanTeen can provide. Christina is a social worker at CanTeen with a passion for working with young people. Click HERE to register or contact the Network at breacan@breacan.org.au.

Talking to kids about a cancer diagnosis is never easy, and I really appreciate how this article highlights the importance of honesty and reassurance. Parents often worry about balancing emotional support with everyday responsibilities, especially when managing things like childcare. I recently came across the CCS estimate tool, which helps Australian parents figure out their childcare costs and government subsidies. It’s such a relief knowing there are practical tools to ease some of the financial stress while families focus on their health and wellbeing. This post beautifully reminds us that open communication truly strengthens family resilience.
